And of course, we’re still airing in New York, Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Francisco, DC, Orlando, Cincinnati, Providence, and Indianapolis – plus we’re coming to more major cities like Chicago in the coming weeks! * * * This is a great time to reflect that Season 3 of Bare Feet is a culmination of almost 10 years of hard work, and looking back to our very, first #BareFeetSeries shoot in @minturno Italy with my Nonna Pina, nothing has changed yet EVERYTHING has changed. The heart and mission of this show has never wavered – we continue to share stories of #dance and #music from around the world with respect and of course love. But to see how much this series has grown, it makes me so proud that all of you have been on this journey, whether you are just finding us now with this new DNA-themed season, or if you’ve been an avid fan from Day 1. Whenever you joined us, we thank you! #DNATravel #IAmPublicMedia Season 3 of the #BareFeetSeries starts airing nationally on @pbs stations across the country, rolling out first in New York, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Atlanta, Orlando, Sacramento, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Providence, and Harrisburg-Lancaster over the next few weeks – and more cities and markets to come! But what you probably didn’t know is that this new #BareFeetDNA season almost didn’t happen. The beautiful thing about public television is there are no commercials, therefore the programming is not influenced by sponsors or advertisers, making it clean content. But that also means that as an independent producer, I need to find all of the funding to make our show happen. I want to thank from the bottom of my heart all of the incredible underwriters and supporters who helped make this new season a reality – without you, none of this would be possible: The Yuen Foundation, The Ann H. It has been such an incredible journey so far, and I cannot tell you how excited I am for you all to see the stories we are sharing with you for this new season - I decided to get my DNA tested almost 2 years ago, to use my findings as the basis for this next season’s map of destinations to visit. Little did I know how incredibly emotional and transformative this season would be for me! Stay tuned for Season 3 of the #BareFeetSeries coming to your local PBS station this October!! ❤️🌍✨ #dnatravel #womenwhotravel #girlboss #iampublicmedia Dance, movement, music, and artistic expression have always been therapeutic for me, and this morning’s performance of The Table of Silence Project 9/11 was a perfect example of using the arts for healing - a haunting, beautiful piece in the middle of @lincolncenter with the soundtrack of operatic voices, minimal instrumentation, and the sounds of New York City. At moments, ambulance trucks sped by with their blaring sirens, which pulled me event further back to the memories of 9/11/01. Those were the true sounds of the city that day. Thank you Jacqulyn Buglisi (@big lisidance) for conceiving and choreographing this incredibly powerful and emotional remembrance. #911TableofSilenceProject #danceforpeace #iloveny Did you ever get a feeling from something that stuck with you so strongly, you couldn’t shake it? At first, it was only a shot of joy that kept getting buried in the tasks of daily life. And then as you sporadically found that moment again and again, you wanted more. So much so, it would keep you up at night. I cannot reiterate enough how many times and for how long people thought that my idea to travel the world through #dance and #music was a pipe dream, that I was crazy to want to do this – and people who loved and cared for me deeply. If you really have a passion for something, if you truly find joy in something, please do not ignore that voice inside of you that tells you to keep going for it. As we continue to edit more episodes from the #BareFeetDNA season, I’m constantly reminded that this new season almost didn’t happen, that the moment of giving up entirely was very real. But I couldn’t shut out that voice that kept telling me to stick with it, no matter what. Happy #NationalDanceDay - #dance has been the part of my life that has given me so much joy, so much freedom, and so much connection to the rest of the world! ❤️ When I was 15 years old and was the new kid at school, I joined my high school’s Dance Corps, building lifelong friendships and finding my voice in a foreign place. To our NYC Life fans - TONIGHT is a new episode of our #BareFeetDNA season, and I could not be more proud of what we have been sharing with you. Tonight, I #dance in #Morocco, where not only is it one of the most exotic and foreign places I have ever been to, but it is also the most powerful for me and where I felt the strongest connections to my roots. 🇲🇦 I don’t know how else to explain it except for that I felt so welcome and so part of the cultures & the people that I met in this episode.
