Support our dancers!

Tonight I attended the EFSD (the Emergency Fund for Student Dancers) 20th Anniversary Annual Benefit Concert.  It is really gratifying to see the dance school community perform, and of course, perform for a great cause.  We need to support our artists, and dancers need not only financial support, but physical support and guidance to a long and successful life of dancing as a career.  The schools featured in the benefit concert (which are also participating members of EFSD) were The Dance Theater of Harlem School, The Merce Cunningham Studio, The Limon Institute, and The Ailey School.  Two very talented dancers (who I had the pleasure of dancing with on another project - Spider Dance) performed this evening with The Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance - Lindsay Poulis and Greta Campo.  I am saying this with unbiased eyes, but their group's performance of Martha Graham's piece Steps In The Street was by far the most riveting piece in the whole performance - truly beautiful, ladies! The EFSD 20th Anniversary Annual Benefit Concert is continuing Monday, March 7th, 2011 at the Ailey Citigroup Theater, 405 West 55th Street (at 9th Avenue), New York, NY (212) 405-9056.
